Artist Statement
For this work ‘Where Grey Meets Green’, I wanted to go in a different direction than just a literal expression of this and decided to think deeply into this and create more conceptual work. Therefore, once I got this brief I immediately thought about the grey in life and how the greyest life can get is death; instantly I thought about graveyards and how they truly represent the title, where grey meets green; the green exists in this concept as being the green grass in the graveyards. As well as the ‘grey’ being conceptual, in the photographs its also literal because of the grey tombstones in the graveyard. I wanted to capture the essence of a graveyard in my images, that’s why I’ve chosen to put my images in black and white, since graveyards can make people feel depressed and connotates by using black and white instead of colour.
